Which MRI scans qualify for self-referral?
Only non-contrast MRIs qualify for self-referral.
Can I self-refer for other imaging or contrast studies?
Any contrast MRIs, along with all other imaging exams such as CT, X-ray, Ultrasound, DEXA, and Arthrogram, require a provider order before scheduling. Your doctor can help determine which scan is best for you and whether contrast is needed.
Do I need to talk to my doctor before I self-refer?
You’re always encouraged to talk with your healthcare provider if you have questions or concerns before or after your scan.
Our self-referral option simply removes the extra step of scheduling an additional appointment just to get an MRI order. This helps you get scanned and get answers sooner, while keeping your doctor involved in your care and treatment decisions.
How much does a self-referral MRI cost?

Can I use insurance for a self-referral MRI?
You can self-refer even if you have insurance, but insurance cannot be billed for a self-referral MRI as insurance companies require an order from a healthcare provider.
